I like to water new trees and plants with old milk gallon bottles. I poke a small hole about two inches from the bottom that way it is a slow trickle and when water is gone the bottle won't blow away. I have had a few trees die from bad weather but if the roots are still alive a new tree will grow. Cut back anything that looks dead, your tree will use growth energy on trying to fix itself. This link has some general info on red maples as well. Depending on where you are in FL. it might be too hot. Maybe if you plant some other trees around it to shelter from te harsh sun it will do better. Good luck

Hi!
Get the little guy out of the sun period and give it filtered sunlight only. It sounds like it is super stressed but it may survive as long as it gets less water than what you are giving it now. They do not like wet feet which means soggy or constant water will send it to the next world.... Let it dry out a little before rewatering (but not completely). DO NOT fertilize it at all this year until it bounces back completely next year. Also, leave the leaves on since they will self clean. I hope this helps :-)
